(서울=연합뉴스) 조현영 기자 = KT가 오픈랜 환경에서 무선망 지능형 컨트롤러(RIC)를 이용해 전력을 절감하는 기술의 성능을 검증했다고 7일 밝혔다.

오픈랜은 개방형 무선 접속망으로,기지국은 전파를 송수신하는 하드웨어로 만들고 통신 서비스에 필요한 기능은 장비 대신 소프트웨어를 탑재해 구현하는 기술이다.

이번 기술 검증은 한국지능정보사회진흥원(NIA)이 운영하는 판교 5G 테스트베드 센터에서 진행됐다.KT는 인텔,델 테크놀로지스,캡제미니,이스라엘 챔피언스리그한국정보통신기술협회(TTA) 등과 협업해 다양한 제조사의 가상화 기지국을 함께 구성하고,이스라엘 챔피언스리그이를 무선망 지능형 컨트롤러와 연동했다.

KT는 테스트 과정에서 무선망 지능형 컨트롤러를 이용해 기존 대비 약 16%의 기지국 소비 전력 절감 효과가 나타났다고 설명했다.

KT는 향후 기지국 소프트웨어 제조사 생태계를 확대하고 개발 역량 강화를 위해 유관 기관과 협력을 강화할 방침이다.특히 한국정보통신기술협회와 함께 공인된 무선망 지능형 컨트롤러 시험 인증 절차 도입을 위해 노력할 계획이다.
