[서울=뉴시스]강주희 기자 = 배우 손호준이 연극 '엔젤스 인 아메리카로 10년 만에 무대에 복귀한다.

공연기획사 라바마인은 손호준이 연극 '엔젤스 인 아메리카'에 주인공 프라이어 역으로 추가 캐스팅 됐다고 25일 밝혔다.

프라이어는 루이스와 연인 관계인 백인 게이 남성이자 에이즈 환자로 병상에 지내는 동안 천사에게 예언가의 게시를 받는 중요한 인물이다.

손호준은 "연습 초반이지만 너무 즐겁고 유익한 시간들을 보내고 있다"며 "연기에 대한 재미를 다시 한 번 느끼게 됐다.배우들과 생각을 공유하고 같이 분석하고 같이 만들어가는 과정이 너무 즐겁고 재미있다"고 밝혔다.

미국 극작가 토니 커쉬너의 대표작인 '엔젤스 인 아메리카'는 1980년대 미국 뉴욕을 배경으로 사회적 소수자들의 이야기를 다룬 작품이다.1993년 브로드웨이 초연 당시 퓰리처상,빈티지 챔피온토니상,빈티지 챔피온드라마데스크상을 포함해 다수의 상을 휩쓸었다.

프라이어 역은 손호준과 함께 첫 연극 도전에 나선 유승호가 캐스팅됐다.고준희와 정혜인도 약물 중독자 하퍼 역으로 연극 연기에 데뷔한다.고준희는 2019년 드라마 '빙의' 이후 오랜만에 연기 활동을 재개한다.

권력에 집착하는 극우 보수주의 변호사 로이 역은 이효정과 김주호,빈티지 챔피온성 정체성에 괴로워하는 모르몬교도 조셉 역은 이유진과 양지원이 캐스팅됐다.부자 관계인 이효정과 이유진은 각각 개성 강한 캐릭터로 등장해 연기 대결을 펼친다.

이외에도 태항호·이태빈·정경훈·전국향·방주란·권은혜·민주웅 등이 출연한다.연극 '엔젤스 인 아메리카'는 오는 8월6일~9월28일 LG아트센터 서울 시그니처홀에서 공연한다.
