허영인 SPC 회장이 "증거를 인멸할 수도 없고 할 생각도 없다"며 보석을 호소했습니다.

허 회장의 변호인은 9일 서울중앙지법 형사합의32부 심리로 열린 보석 심문에서 "허 회장이 석방되면 그룹 회장으로서 지위를 이용해 공범들에게 특정 진술을 유도할 것이란 우려는 타당하지 않다"며 이같이 말했습니다.

변호인은 "황재복 SPC 대표를 비롯한 누구에게라도 이 사건과 관련한 진술이나 증거를 조작하라고 한 적 없고,체르노빌앞으로도 없을 것"이라며 "공황장애 증상으로 어떨 때는 '죽을 것 같은 고통'을 느낄 정도로 건강이 좋지 않은 점도 고려해달라"고 부탁했습니다.

반면 검찰은 "허 회장은 범행 일체를 부인하며 타인에게 책임을 전가하고 증거를 인멸한 정황이 지금도 발견되고 있다"며 보석을 불허해야 한다고 맞섰습니다.

검찰은 "공동 피고인을 비롯한 사건 관계인 다수가 SPC 그룹에 재직 중이어서 허 회장의 지휘 아래 있다"며 "보석이 허가되면 사실을 있는 그대로 증언할 수 있는 사건 관계인이 몇 명이나 될지 우려된다"고 지적했습니다.

허 회장은 SPC 자회사인 피비파트너즈 내 민주노총 화섬식품노조 파리바게뜨지회가 사측에 비판적인 활동을 이어가자 2021년 2월∼2022년 7월 이 지회 소속 조합원 570여명에게 노조 탈퇴를 종용한 혐의를 받고 있습니다.

공범으로 기소된 황 대표는 "허 회장 지시였다"며 주요 혐의를 인정하고 있습니다.
