황정아 의원 "독과점 지위 통신사들,마산야구센터막대한 영업이익 올리면서 투자는 부족"

‘데이터 고속도로’로 불리는 5G의 속도가 지역과 통신사별로 '천차만별'이라는 지적이 제기됐다.

황정아 의원(더불어민주당,대전 유성을)이 한국지능정보사회연구원으로부터 받은 자료에 따르면 155개 전국 시·군·구 중 평균 5G 다운로드 속도가 가장 낮게 나타난 곳은 전북 완주군으로 441.52(이하 단위 Mbps)였다.이는 전체 평균인 939.14의 절반 이하 수준이다.

이어 충남 예산군(453.60),강원 횡성군(476.76),마산야구센터전남 함평군(480.44),경북 성주군(488.21) 도 낮은 편에 속했다.

반면 속도가 가장 높은 곳은 강원 강릉시로 1727.69 였으며 2위인 서울 종로구(1343.24)와도 차이가 컸다.

다운로드 속도가 빠른 상위 10개 시·군·구 중 9 곳은 수도권에 속해 수도권 집중도도 높은 것으로 나타났다.

종로구 외에도 중구(1306.89),마산야구센터마포구(1251.44),광진구(1240.96),강북구(1236.31)등이 속도가 빠른 곳에 속했다.

통신사 중에서는 LGU+의 5G 속도가 881.00으로 가장 낮게 나타났다.

LGU+는 전국 평균 대비 속도가 낮은 시군구도 91 개로 58.7%를 차지해 다른 통신사들보다 많은 것으로 분석됐다.

SKT의 경우 55개(35.5%),KT는 63개(40.6%)였다.

통신사별로 가장 느린 속도를 보인 지역은 LGU+의 경우 전북 완주 (384.4),KT의 경우도 전북 완주 (404.24),SKT의 경우는 강원 횡성 (452.12)순으로 나타났다.

황정아 의원은 "5G 는 데이터 신산업을 위해 필수적인 핵심 인프라"라며 "독과점적 시장 지위 혜택을 받는 통신사들이 천문학적 영업이익을 내고 있음에도 투자가 여전히 부족하다는 지적이 끊임없이 반복되고 있다"고 말했다.

이어 "통신사들이 시장 지위에 걸맞은 데이터 고속도로 투자에 나서야 한다"고 강조했다.
