14일 경남 통영경찰서에 따르면 이날 오전 0시 28분께 경남 통영시 용남면 남해안대로 14번 국도 편도 2차로 중 2차로에서 40대 운전자가 몰던 승용차가 앞서가던 2명이 탄 125cc 오토바이를 들이받았다.

이 사고로 오토바이 20대 운전자는 중상을 입었고,앤트워프 축구20대 동승자는 숨졌다.

오토바이 탑승자 모두 오토바이 헬멧을 쓰고 있었다.

경찰조사 결과 승용차는 사고 직전 규정 속도(70㎞)를 훨씬 넘는 시속 170㎞ 속도로 달렸던 것으로 나타났다.

승용차 운전자는 경찰에서 밤길에 오토바이를 미처 보지 못했다는 취지로 진술했다.

당시 음주 상태는 아니었다.

경찰은 승용차 운전자를 교통사고처리 특례법 위반 혐의로 입건하고 속도분석 등 정확한 사건 원인과 경위를 조사하고 있다.
