/사진제공=에이비엘바이오에이비엘바이오가 ROR1(Receptor tyrosine kinase-like Orphan Receptor 1)을 표적하는 단일항체 관련 미국 특허 결정이 완료됐다고 8일 밝혔다.에이비엘바이오는 해당 특허에 대한 한국·일본·중국 내 권리를 보유 중으로 미국 특허를 포함해 이들은 모두 2039년까지 보장될 예정이다.

에이비엘바이오는 ROR1 단일항체를 활용해 국내 바이오 기업 리가켐바이오와 공동으로 ROR1 ADC(항체-약물접합체) 'ABL202'(CS5001,LCB71)를 개발했다.양사는 2020년 10월 시스톤 파마슈티컬스와 기술이전 계약을 체결했으며,야구 핸디캡 뜻계약에 따라 시스톤은 한국을 제외한 글로벌에서의 개발 및 상업화를 위한 독점적 권리를 획득했다.

현재 시스톤은 미국·호주·중국에서 ABL202의 임상 1상을 진행 중이며,야구 핸디캡 뜻올해 미국임상종양학회(ASCO)에서 진행성 고형암 및 림프종 환자 대상 임상 1a·1b상 데이터를 발표했다.ASCO에서 발표된 ABL202의 객관적 반응률(ORR)은 호지킨 림프종에서 55.6%,미만성 거대 B세포 림프종(DLBCL)에서 50.0%였으며,이는 MSD가 개발 중인 ROR1 ADC 'MK-2140'의 임상 1상 ORR 보다 높은 것으로 나타났다.

에이비엘바이오는 ABL202 개발 경험과 이중항체 전문성을 살려 이중항체 ADC 개발을 본격적으로 추진할 예정이다.이미 내부적으로 복수의 이중항체 ADC 후보물질에 대한 비임상 연구를 진행 중에 있으며,3개 파이프라인에 대한 IND(임상시험신청서)를 내년 말까지 제출해 2026년 임상 1상 진입을 목표 중이다.

이상훈 에이비엘바이오 대표는 "특허를 확보한 ROR1 단일항체는 리가켐바이오와 공동 개발한 ABL202에 적용된 항체"라며 "하반기 유럽종양학회(ESMO)와 미국혈액학회(ASH)에서도 ABL202 임상 데이터가 발표될 예정이다.ABL202에 이어 이중항체 ADC 개발도 강화해 빠른 임상 진입으로 시장을 선점할 것"이라고 말했다.
