[서울=뉴시스] 구자룡 기자 = 인도네시아 술라웨시섬의 한 무허가 금광이 7일 폭우로 인한 산사태로 붕괴돼 최소 11명이 사망하고 19명이 실종됐다고 AP 통신이 8일 보도했다.

사고는 술라웨시섬 북부 고란탈로주 외딴 보네 볼랑고 지구의 작은 재래식 금광에서 발생했다.

이 금광에서는 35명의 마을 주민들이 금 알갱이를 캐려고 파던 중 수t의 진흙이 쏟아져 내려 이들을 매몰시켰다고 국립 수색 및 구조 기관 대변인 아피푸딘 일라후데가 말했다.

그는 구조대원들이 8일까지 부상자 5명을 구하고 시신 11구를 수습했다고 말했다.실종 신고가 접수된 다른 19명은 수색중이다.

국가 재난 관리국 대변인 압둘 무하리는 6일부터 이 지역을 강타한 폭우로 제방이 무너져 보네 볼랑고의 5개 마을에 수위 최대 3m 높이의 홍수가 발생해 약 300채의 주택이 피해를 입고 1000여명이 대피했다고 말했다.

2022년 4월 북수마트라 만다일링 나탈 지구에서는 불법 재래식 금광에서 산사태가 발생해 금을 찾던 여성 12명이 사망했다.

앞서 2019년 2월 북술라웨시주 불법 금광에 있는 임시 목조 구조물이 토양 이동과 많은 채굴 구멍으로 무너져 40명 이상이 매몰돼 사망했다.

인도네시아에서 산사태,홍수,알래스카파워볼갱도 붕괴는 광부들이 직면한 위험 중 일부라고 통신은 전했다.

금광석 가공의 대부분은 매우 독성이 강한 수은과 시안화물을 포함하고 있지만 근로자들은 종종 보호 장비를 거의 사용하지 않거나 전혀 사용하지 않고 있다.
