(서울=연합뉴스) 정수연 기자 = 서울시가 한국보훈복지의료공단과 업무협약을 맺고 국가유공자 주거환경 개선에 나선다고 13일 밝혔다.

시와 공단은 14일 오전 시청에서 '주거 취약 국가유공자 주거환경 개선을 위한 업무협약'을 체결한다.

시는 주거 환경이 열악한 국가유공자를 발굴하고 공단에 지원 대상자를 추천하기로 했다.

공단은 현장실사와 주거환경 개선사업 운영위원회를 거친 뒤 주거환경 개선 사업에 들어간다.

공단은 보훈병원과 보훈요양원을 운영하면서 동시에 국가유공자를 위해 도배·장판·창호 개선,2024년 3월 18일 잉글랜드 FA컵 경기일정화장실 신설,2024년 3월 18일 잉글랜드 FA컵 경기일정지붕 개량 지원 등을 하고 있다.

2009년부터 지난해까지 총 6천899가구(서울시 1천64가구)를 지원했다.

강철원 서울시 정무부시장은 "이번 업무협약을 통해 취약한 주거환경에 놓인 국가유공자들이 겪는 어려움을 조금이나마 해소하는 데 도움이 되기를 기대한다"고 말했다.
