스위스에 본사를 둔 명품 시계 브랜드 '태그호이어'가 해킹 공격을 받아 한국 고객 정보 2900여 건을 유출한 사실이 뒤늦게 드러났다.

태그호이어는 유출 사실을 인지하지 못하다가 지난해 5월 해커의 협박으로 알게 된 후 뒤늦게 개인정보위에 신고하고 유출 당사자인 고객들에게 통지했다.당시 개인정보보호법은 개인정보처리자가 개인정보 유출을 알게 되면 24시간 이내에 개인정보위에 신고하고 이용자에게도 통지해야 한다고 규정했다.태그호이어는 늑장 신고를 한 것으로 조사됐다.

개인정보위는 지난 2월 열린 전체회의에서 태그호이어의 모기업인 '태그호이어 브랜치 오브 LVMH 스위스 매뉴팩처러'에 개인정보 유출로 과징금 1억2600만원,해외 온라인 카지노 이용 방법안전조치 및 신고통지 의무 위반으로 과태료 780만원을 부과하기로 의결했다.
