동해항 활성화·항만배후단지·항만형 자유무역지역 지정 큰 힘

동해시(시장 심규언) 5일 동해시청 통상상담실에서 동해항 및 항만배후지역 활성화를 위한‘동해항 항만형 자유무역지역 투자 의향 MOU 협약식’을 개최했다고 밝혔다.

협약식에는 심규언 동해시장,시 관계자,제주시 로또 명당LS에코에너지 대표이사,제주시 로또 명당동원LOEX 울산지사장,㈜화남코퍼레션 대표이사,제주시 로또 명당㈜용문기업 대표이사,각 기업(총 4개)의 임원진들도 함께 참석했다.

항만배후단지 및 항만형 자유무역지역 지정을 추진 중인 송정동‧나안동 일대(33.3만㎡)에 향후 기업들이 입주하거나 물류 창고 등 시설 투자를 주요 내용으로 협약을 체결했다.

시는 지난 6월 8일부터 시행된‘자유무역지역 지정 특례’에 맞춰 동해항 육상항만구역(72.6만㎡)과 송정동·나안동 배후지(33.3만㎡)를 결합한 약 106만㎡ 규모의 부지를 자유무역지역 지정을 위해 용역을 추진 중이다.

이번 협약을 통한 투자 유치로 동해항 활성화와 함께 항만배후단지 및 항만형 자유무역지역 지정에도 큰 힘이 될 것으로 기대하고 있다.

심규언 동해시장은 “이번 협약식을 통해 자유무역지역 지정 신청에 관한 추진력을 얻음과 동시에,중장기적으로는 동해항과 배후지를 항만배후단지개발 종합계획에 포함되는 내용을 반영해 환동해권 복합물류 거점 항만으로 육성하기 위해 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
