미국 국무부 밝혀···G7 외교부 장관들도 공동 성명[이데일리 강민구 기자] 인도와 파키스탄의 무력충돌 격화로 확전이 우려되자 미국이 중재에 나섰다.
(사진=연합뉴스) 미국 국무부는 마코 루비오 장관이 지난 8일(현지시간) 파키스탄의 아심 무니르 육군참모총장과 통화하고,포커 디펜스 조합파키스탄과 인도,양국에 긴장완화 방안을 모색할 것을 촉구했다고 밝혔다. 
국무부는 또 루비오 장관은 향후 갈등을 방지하고,건설적인 대화를 시작하도록 미국이 지원하겠다고 제안했다고도 전했다.
이날 주요 7개국(G7) 외교부 장관들도 공동 성명을 내고 양국에 즉각적인 긴장 완화와 평화를 위한 직접 대화를 촉구했다.G7 외교부 장관들은 “군사 긴장 고조는 역내 안정에 심각한 위협”이라며 민간인 안전에 우려를 표명하고,양측에‘최대한의 자제력’을 발휘할 것을 당부했다.
한편,인도와 파키스탄은 지난달 22일 분쟁지인 인도령 카슈미르의 휴양지 파할감 인근에서 발생한 총기 테러 이후 군사적 분쟁을 이어가고 있다.인도는 테러 배후를 파키스탄으로 지목하고 파키스탄을 겨냥해 미사일을 발사했고,토토 잡 리그이날 파키스탄군도 이에 대한 보복 군사 작전을 시작했다.
