시인이자 소설가인 윤후명 작가가 8일 지병으로 별세했습니다.향년 79세.

1946년 강릉에서 태어난 고인은 연세대 철학과를 졸업하고 시인이자 소설가로 활동했으며 국민대 문예창작대학원 겸임교수를 지냈습니다.

고인은 1967년 경향신문 신춘문예에서 시 '빙하의 새'가 당선되며 등단했고,1979년 한국일보 신춘문예에 단편소설 '산역'이 뽑혀 소설가로도 데뷔했습니다.

고인은 소설과 시의 경계,로스앤젤레스 카지노시공간의 한계를 무너뜨리는 '한국문학의 독보적 스타일리스트'라는 이야기를 들으며 시와 소설 양쪽에서 왕성하게 활동했습니다.

1969년에는 강은교,시드니 더 스타 카지노김형영,박건한 등과 함께 시 동인 모임 '70년대'를 결성해 동인지를 펴냈으며 1980년에는 이문열,김원우 등과 동인지 '작가'를 창간했습니다.

소설은 장편 '약속없는 세대',도박 아귀'별까지 우리가','협궤열차','이별의 노래'를 썼고 단편집 '돈황의 사랑','부활하는 새','원숭이는 없다' 등을 냈습니다.2017년에는 등단 50주년을 맞이해 12권으로 구성된 '윤후명 소설전집'을 펴냈습니다.

2014년부터 2022년까지 수림문학상 심사위원장을 맡아 재능 있는 후배 문학가를 발굴에도 기여한 고인은 2023년 대한민국 문화예술상을 수상했습니다.

빈소는 서울 종로구 소재 서울대병원 장례식장에 마련됐으며 발인은 10일입니다.
