(서울=연합뉴스) 조성미 기자 = 과학기술정보통신부는 '메타버스 개발자 경진대회'의 명칭이 바뀐 '가상융합서비스 개발자 경진대회'의 참가자를 다음 달 12일까지 모집한다고 12일 밝혔다.

올해로 5회째를 맞는 이 대회에는 가상현실(XR)·증강현실(AR) 등 가상융합서비스·콘텐츠 개발에 관심 있는 성인과 학생 누구나 참가할 수 있다.

참가자들은 국내외 기업의 가상융합서비스 제작 소프트웨어를 활용해 특정 주제에 대해 개발하거나 형식·주제에 제한이 없는 자유 과제에 참여할 수 있다.서비스 기획부터 제작까지 수행한다.

올해부터는 가상융합서비스 분야 신생 기업 육성을 목표로 설립 1년 이내 법인 참여가 허용됐다.

최종 선정된 38개 우수 팀에게는 총 1억2천800만원 상금과 과학기술정보통신부 장관상 등이 수여된다.

메타,온라인 슬롯 머신 잭팟퀄컴,유니티테크놀로지스코리아 등 글로벌 기업들이 지난해에 이어 후원하며 올해부터 로블록스,넥슨코리아가 후원사로 참여한다.
