[전주MBC자료사진] 서거석 전북교육감의 운명을 가를 대법원 상고심 선고가 오는 6월로 연기됐습니다.

대법원 제2부는 서 교육감에 대한 상고심 선고를 오는 6월 26일 오전 10시 10분으로 기일을 변경한다고 밝혔습니다.

이는 서 교육감 측 변호인단이 그제(7일) 대법원에 기일을 연기해 달라는 신청에 따른 것으로 당초 이번 달 15일로 예정됐던 선고 기일보다 한 달 이상 지연되게 됐습니다.

서 교육감은 지난 2022년 지방선거 당시 TV 토론과 SNS에 허위사실을 공표해 지방교육자치에 관한 법률 위반 혐의로 기소됐습니다.

앞서 서 교육감은 1심에서 무죄를 받았으나 2심재판부가 원심을 파기하고 당선 무효형인 벌금 500만 원을 선고하자 상고장을 제출했습니다.

대법원 선고는 지난 2월 사건이 접수된 지 4달여 만에 진행되는 것이며,블랙잭 사무라이 먹튀대법원이 2심 판결을 받아들일 경우 서 교육감은 전북교육감직을 잃게 됩니다.

한편 해당 사건은 서 교육감이 전북대학교 총장이던 2013년 11월 전주 효자동의 한 식당에서 당시 동료였던 이귀재 전 교수를 폭행했다는 의혹에서 시작됐습니다.
