(서울=연합뉴스) 경기 고양시가 누락된 3년 치 하수도 요금을 한꺼번에 부과해 논란이 일고 있습니다.

11일 고양시에 따르면 시는 지난 3월 일부 가구에 하수도 요금이 부과되지 않은 사실을 확인하고 전수조사를 벌였는데요.

조사 결과 2천여 가구에 3∼10년 치 하수도 요금이 부과되지 않은 사실을 확인했습니다.

시는 지난달 소멸시효가 지나지 않은 3년 치 하수도 요금을 낼 것을 2천여가구에 사전 고지했습니다.

전체 금액은 27억원으로 추산.가구당 평균 135만원이 부과된 것입니다.

시는 최대 36회 분할 납부 신청도 가능하다는 것을 안내했는데요.

그러나 3년 치 요금이 한꺼번에 부과돼 주민들에게 부담이 되면서 반발을 사고 있습니다.

고양시 관계자는 "공공하수관로를 설치할 때 구역별로 전산에 입력해 요금이 부과되도록 해야 하는 데 이를 빠뜨려 요금이 부과되지 않은 것"이라며 "별도의 감면 규정이 없어 일단 요금을 부과했으며 감면이 가능한지 추가 법률 검토를 진행하고 있다"고 말했습니다.
