강원지역 농민들 정부 수입 승인 규탄

◇‘강원농민의길’을 비롯해 지역 시민사회단체들은 지난 9일 강원도청 앞에서‘GMO감자 수입 승인 규탄’기자회견을 진행했다.

강원지역 농민들이 유전자변형농산물(GMO) 감자 수입 시도에 반발하고 나섰다.

전농강원도연맹,보너스 구매 슬롯전여농강원도연합,포커 은어가톨릭농민회춘천·원주교구연합회 등으로 구성된‘강원농민의길’을 비롯해 지역 시민사회단체들은 지난 9일 강원도청 앞에서‘GMO감자 수입 승인 규탄’기자회견을 진행했다.

이들은 “정부는 농민 죽이기와 국민 건강권을 위협하는 정책을 멈춰야 한다”며 “감자 최대 생산지역 강원도의 농민들이 가장 큰 피해가 우려되고 있어 정부의 수입 승인은 철회해야 한다”고 주장했다.

2023년 기준 국내 총 감자 생산량은 55만톤으로 이중 강원도에서 가장 많은 18톤이 생산되고 있다.두번째로 많은 전남(6만9,000톤)의 3배 가량 많다.

정치권에서도 정부의 GMO 감자 수입 승인을 규탄했다.

민주노동당 강원도당은 성명을 통해 “강원도는 국내 감자 생산의 중심지로 지역 농민의 주 소득원이 감자”라며 “농민의 생계를 위협하는 GMO 감자 수입을 중단하고 농가소득 안정 기반 마련과 소비자 알권리를 위한 GMO 완전 표시제 도입이 필요하다”고 강조했다.

한편 농촌진흥청은 지난 4월21일 미국 심플로트사의 유전자변형생물체 감자(SPS-Y9)에 대한‘작물재배 환경 위해성 협의 심사’를 진행한 가운데‘적합’판정을 내려 식품의약품안전처에 통보했다.식약처의 인체 안전성 검사를 통과하면 본격 수입된다.
