새내기 경찰관의 발빠른 대처로 자살을 시도하려던 한 생명을 극적으로 구조한 사실이 전해져 화제다.
주인공은 영주경찰서 김준언(26,마작 한자 숫자서부지구대)순경.김 순경은 지난 5일 오후 6시 19분쯤 서울경찰청에서 걸려온 A(54·영주시 구성로))씨의 무단 가출 신고를 접수 받고 곧바로 A 씨가 머물고 있던 단독주택을 찾아가 목을 메 자살을 시도하려던 A 씨를 극적으로 구조했다.
출동 당시 김 순경은 집 문이 잠겨 있으나 안에 인기적을 있는 것을 감지하고 잠긴 문을 열고 들어가 밧줄로 목을 메고 2층에서 뛰어내리려던 A씨를 붙잡아 극적으로 구조한 것으로 알려졌다.
다행히 A 씨는 김 순경의 신속한 구조로 생명에는 지장이 없는 것으로 확인됐다.
김 순경은 "신고를 받은 주소지에 출동해 확인한 결과 자살을 시도하려는 모습을 목격하고 일단 생명부터 구해야겠다는 마음으로 서둘러 구조하게 됐다"며 "생명을 구한것에 자부심을 느낀다.경찰관 본연의 임무를 다한 것이다"고 말했다.
