조국 조국혁신당 대표가 성매매 유인 강도 사건 기사에 자신과 딸 조민 씨의 모습을 담은 삽화를 사용한 조선일보를 상대로 낸 손해배상 소송에서 일부 승소했다.

서울중앙지법 민사합의14부(정하정 부장판사)는 14일 조 대표 부녀가 조선일보와 조선일보 기자 A 씨를 상대로 제기한 10억원대 손해배상 청구 소송에서 원고 일부 승소 판결했다.

재판부는 "조선일보와 A 씨는 조국에게 700만원,빠꿈이 토토조민에게 1000만원을 지급하라"며 "손해배상 책임을 인정하되 위자료 액수는 700만원과 1000만원으로 정했다"고 설명했다.

앞서 조선일보는 지난 2021년 6월21일 성매매 유인 혼성 절도단 기사에 조 대표 부녀의 모습이 묘사된 삽화 이미지를 사용했다.이후 논란이 불거지자 다른 삽화로 교체했다.조선일보는 부적절한 삽화 사용과 관련해 신문 지면에 사과문을 게재했다.

조 대표는 이후 자신의 SNS에 문제를 제기하고 조선일보를 상대로 10억원 상당의 손해배상 청구 소송을 제기했다.
