15일 대법원 1부(주심 서경환)는 이날 이 전 대표가 지난 1일 낸 토지관할 병합 심리 신청 사건을 기각했다.

형사소송법에 의하면 토지관할이 다른 여러 관련 사건이 각각 다른 법원에 있으면 공통의 상급법원은 검사나 피고인의 신청에 따라 한 개 법원으로 병합해 심리할 수 있다.

서울중앙지법과 수원지법의 상급 법원은 각각 서울고법과 수원고법이다.이들의 공통된 상급 법원인 대법원에서 병합 심리 여부를 결정한 것이다.

앞서 지난달 12일 수원지검 형사6부는 이 전 대표를 특가법상 제3자뇌물과 외국환거래법 위반 등 혐의로 수원지법에 불구속기소 했다.

해당 사건 심리는 이 전 부지사에 이어 12일 김성태 전 쌍방울그룹 회장의 800만 달러 대북송금 혐의에 대해 중형을 선고한 수원지법 형사11부에 배당됐다.
