"허블레아니호(유람선)는 바이킹호(크루즈선)와 충돌한 후 7초 만에 옆으로 기울어 가라앉았습니다."

희생자 5명의 유족 9명은 국내 여행사를 상대로 손해배상을 청구했는데 5년 만에 법원이 유족의 손을 들어줬습니다.

재판부는 사망자 1인 당 위자료 2억 원과 장래소득을 감안해 유족 1인당 1억 3천만 원~8억 2천 만원을 지급하라고 했습니다.총 배상액은 29억 원입니다.

여행사 측은 "크루즈선의 무리한 추월로 인해 발생한 사고"라며 배상책임이 없다고 주장했지만,프로야구 개막일정재판부는 "여행사는 현지 가이드로 하여금 사고 발생의 위험성,프로야구 개막일정대처 방법 등에 대해 사전교육할 주의 의무가 있다"며 받아들이지 않았습니다.

다만 사망자들이 스스로 구명조끼 등을 착용해 주의할 능력이 있었다는 점에서 여행사 책임 비율을 80%로 제한했습니다.

앞서 헝가리 법원도 선박 회사들이 유가족들에게 67억 원을 배상하라고 판결한 바 있습니다.
