11일 국회 과학기술정보방송통신위원회 소속 황정아 더불어민주당 의원이 한국지능정보사회연구원으로부터 받은 자료에 따르면 155개 전국 시·군·구 중 평균 5G 다운로드 속도가 가장 낮게 나타난 곳은 전북 완주군으로 441.52Mbps(초당 백만 비트)였다.이는 전체 평균 939.14Mbps의 절반 이하 수준이다.

SK텔레콤의 경우 55개(35.5%),KT는 63개(40.6%)였다.

통신사별로 가장 느린 속도를 보인 지역은 LG유플러스와 KT 모두 전북 완주(384.4Mbps· 404.24Mbps)였고 SK텔레콤은 강원 횡성(452.12Mbps)이었다.

황 의원은 "5G는 신산업을 위해 필수적 핵심 인프라로,천문학적 영업 이익을 내고 있음에도 독과점적 시장 지위 혜택을 받는 통신사들의 투자가 여전히 부족하다는 지적이 끊임없이 반복되고 있다"고 지적했다.
