이어 "아울러 윤석열 정부는 역사적 진실과 국민 정서를 반영한 인사를 독립기념관장으로 임명하라"며 "독립기념관장은 단순한 행정직이 아닌 대한민국의 자주와 독립 정신을 수호하는 자리이다.이 자리에 어울리는 인사가 임명돼야 한다"고 주장했다.

이들은 "정부는 이번 임명 강행에 대해 국민 앞에 사과하고 다시는 이와 같은 실책이 반복되지 않도록 할 것을 약속해야 한다"면서 "역사 왜곡을 바로잡고 독립운동의 정신을 존중하는 것은 대한민국의 미래를 위한 필수적인 과제"라고 강조했다.
