제1회 조수미 국제 성악 콩쿠르가 프랑스의 한 고성에서 열렸습니다.

우리나라 음악가의 이름을 딴 클래식 콩쿠르는 이번이 처음인데요.

손령 특파원이 현장을 취재했습니다.

성악가 조수미의 천상의 목소리가 프랑스 중부 루아르 고성 속 청량한 공기를 가득 채웁니다.

함께 노래하는 사람들은 '제1회 조수미 콩쿠르' 수상자들.

가난했던 동양 출신 유학생 시절 콩쿠르 우승을 계기로 이탈리아 베르디 극장에서 오페라 리골레토의 질다 역을 꿰찼던 조수미.

이름이 내걸린 클래식 콩쿠르는 우리나라 음악인 중엔 처음입니다.

자신이 그랬듯 기회조차 얻기 힘든 원석들을 발굴해 지원하고 싶었다고 조수미는 콩쿠르 준비 이유를 담담하게 말했습니다.

"도와주고 싶어요.왜냐하면 제가 콩쿠르 상금으로도 몇 달 동안 살아봤고 젊은 성악가들에게 콩쿠르라는 거는 정말 너무나 필요하겠구나."

8만 유로,룩셈부르크 대 리히텐슈타인우리 돈 1억 원이 넘는 역대 최대 상금.

클래식 분야 대가들로 구성된 심사위원단으로 조수미 콩쿠르는 시작 전부터 세계적인 주목을
받았습니다.

아직 꽃 피우지 못한 성악가 500여 명이 전 세계 47개 나라에서 도전장을 내밀었는데 우리나라의 젊은 테너 이기업도 감동적인 목소리 중 하나로 뽑혔습니다.

"인종차별이 선생님 때에 비하면 아니지만 선생님이 이렇게 쌓아오신 커리어 덕분에 저희가 또 이렇게 계속 노래할 수 있고"

수상자들과 함께 콘서트를 여는 등 이들의 잠재력이 세상에 알려질 때까지 손을 놓지 않겠다는 조수미.

"1,룩셈부르크 대 리히텐슈타인2,룩셈부르크 대 리히텐슈타인3등/콩쿠르를 하는 게 끝나는 게 아니라요.앞으로 어떻게 갈 것이냐까지 매니징을 도와주려고 해요.극장에 선다든지 콘서트를 한다든지."

데뷔 40주년인 오는 2026년,룩셈부르크 대 리히텐슈타인조수미는 같은 장소인 이 고성에서 두 번째 콩쿠르를 예고했습니다.

일회성 이벤트에 그치지 않고 제2의 조수미들을 키워내겠다는 그녀의 약속이 언제까지 이어지리 주목됩니다.
