대전고법 제3형사부(재판장 김병식)는 9일 박 시장에 대한 공직선거법 위반 혐의 파기환송심 선고 공판에서 원심과 같은 벌금 1500만원을 선고했다.

앞서 검찰도 지난 4일 결심 공판에서 벌금 1500만원을 선고한 원심을 유지해달라고 재판부에 요청했다.

박 시장은 이 같은 벌금형이 확정될 경우 당선이 무효가 된다.

박 시장은 2022년 제8회 전국동시지방선거에 출마했을 당시 상대 후보였던 오세현 전 아산시장에 대한 허위사실을 유포한 혐의로 재판에 넘겨져 1·2심 모두 벌금 1500만원을 선고받았다.

대법원은 변호인들에게 소송기록접수통지를 하지 않은 채 판결했다며 절차상의 문제를 들어 원심을 파기하고 대전고법으로 돌려보냈다.
