(서울=연합뉴스) 오진송 기자 = 한림대의료원 수장인 윤대원 학교법인 일송학원 이사장이 25일 노환으로 별세했다.향년 79세.

고인은 1945년 윤덕선 학교법인 일송학원 설립자의 장남으로 태어나 1969년 가톨릭대 의대를 졸업하고 동대학원에서 의학 석·박사 과정을 마쳤다.

1979년 미국 컬럼비아대 외과학교실에서 장기이식과 첨단의학을 연구하고 이듬해 귀국해 한림대강남성심병원에서 외과의사로 일하며 환자를 돌봤다.

고인은 1985년 한림대의료원 최초로 신장이식 수술에 성공했고,1987년 국내 최초로 췌장 이식수술에 성공해 당뇨병 치료의 새로운 가능성을 제시하며 한국 의학 발전에 공헌했다.

고인은 1989년 학교법인 일송학원 2대 이사장으로 취임해 한림대의료원,한림대,한림성심대,주택연금복권 당첨번호한림국제대학원대학교 등을 이끌었다.

고인은 더 많은 국내 환자를 돌보기 위해 국제통화기금(IMF) 외환위기 때인 1997년에 대형병원 건립을 추진했고,1999년 한림대성심병원을,2013년에는 한림대동탄성심병원을 개원했다.

이로써 학교법인 일송학원 산하 한림대의료원은 한림대성심병원·한림대한강성심병원·한림대춘천성심병원·한림대강남성심병원·한림대동탄성심병원 등 5개 대학병원을 지닌 대규모 기관으로 성장했다.

생전 고인은 "생지옥 같은 화상치료는 누군가는 해야만 한다"라고 밝힐 정도로 화상 환자 치료에 뜻이 있었고,2008년 한림화상재단을 설립하고,화상 흉터와 치료로 학교에 다닐 수 없는 소아 환자를 위해 화상병원학교를 운영했다.

2013∼2018년 화상병원학교 이용자는 1만2천755명이었고,2018년까지 베트남 등 8개국 화상 환자에게 지원된 진료비는 18억2천430만원에 달한다.

고인은 2004년부터 미국 콜롬비아의대를 비롯해 세계적인 의대들과 국제학술 심포지엄을 개최하는 등 의학기술 발전을 위해 협력했고,작년에는 스웨덴 웁살라대에서 아시아 최초로 '린네 골드메달'을 수상했다.
