7일(현지시간) CNN 등에 따르면 미 캘리포니아 중부지방검찰청은 한국계 유튜버 최모(24)씨를 항공기에 폭발물 및 방화 장치를 설치한 혐의로 기소했다고 전날 밝혔다.

검찰 조사 결과 최씨는 구독자 92만3000명,인터넷 중독인스타그램 팔로워 120만명을 보유한 유튜버로 파악됐다.그는 지난해 7월 자신의 유튜브 채널에‘폭죽으로 람보르기니 파괴하기’(Destroying a Lamborghini with Fireworks)라는 제목의 영상을 올렸다.

비디오 게임의 한 장면처럼 보이는 11분짜리 영상에는 달리는 람보르기니 스포츠카를 향해 헬기에서 폭죽을 쏘아대는 모습이 담겨 있다.이 영상은 현재 삭제된 상태다.

검찰은 최씨가 연방 당국으로부터 영상 촬영에 필요한 승인 절차를 거치지 않았고,인터넷 중독총기 및 폭발물 관련 면허나 허가도 받지 않았다고 밝혔다.

현지 언론은 유죄가 확정될 경우 최대 10년의 징역형에 처해질 수 있다고 내다봤다.최씨는 보석금 5만 달러를 내고 석방됐다.최씨에 대한 재판은 다음 달 열린다.
