한국장기조직기증원은 18일 "지난달 23일 전남대병원에서 김소영(45) 씨가 뇌사 장기기증으로 5명의 생명을 살리고 하늘의 천사가 되어 떠났다"고 밝혔다.

김씨는 지난달 6일 집에서 의식을 잃고 쓰러져 인근 병원으로 이송됐다.그러나 그는 끝내 의식을 회복하지 못했고,뇌사 상태가 됐다.평소 장기기증을 희망해 왔던 김씨의 뜻을 지키고자 가족은 고인의 뇌사 장기기증에 동의,슬롯 메이저심장·폐장·간장·신장(좌우)을 기증해 5명의 환자를 살렸다.

김씨는 소방서 구급대원으로 일했다고 한다.응급 구급대원이 심정지 된 환자를 심폐소생술로 살리면 받을 수 있는 '하트 세이버'를 5개나 탄 우수 구급대원이었으며,슬롯 메이저각종 재난 현장에서 헌신적으로 구조 활동에 임해 전라남도의사회에서 표창장도 받았다.

스트레스가 극심한 소방 구조 업무에도 늘 웃으며 모든 일에 적극적이었던 것으로 전해졌으며,슬롯 메이저다른 동료 소방 직원을 돕기 위해 심리상담학과 박사를 수료하고 논문 과정을 준비 중이었다.
