경북도의회는 대변인을 통한 공식 브리핑에서 "대구시가 주장하는 '대구경북특별시 특별법' 등은 경북과 대구가 합의하지 않은 내용"이라며 "대구시가 경북도와 마치 행정통합을 최종 합의한 것처럼 여론몰이를 하는 것에 대해 크게 유감을 표한다"고 밝혔다.

이날 앞서 대구경북 행정통합 관련 실무 총괄을 맡고 있는 김호진 경북도 기획조정실장이 박성만 경북도의장을 만나 "대구경북특별시 특별법의 내용 중 일부는 대구시의 일방적인 주장이며 경북도와 합의된 사항이 아니다"라고 밝혔다.

경북도의회는 대구경북 행정통합에 대해 반대를 하는 입장이 아니라 절차상 양 시·도민과 의회의 의견을 물어가며 차근차근 단계를 밟자는 이야기다.

하지만 이 주장과 절차를 대구시가 무시한 채 독자적으로 행정통합을 추진하면서 이에 대해 경북도의회가 공식 입장을 처음으로 밝히게 됐다고 설명했다.
