피스 나우는 최근 이스라엘 당국이 요르단 계곡의 토지 12.7㎢ 전용을 승인했다며,무토 요시노리이는 평화 프로세스 시작을 알린 1993년 오슬로 협정 이후 승인된 가장 큰 단일 전용이라고 말했다.

이번 조치는 지난달 말 승인됐지만 3일에야 공개됐다.이스라엘은 앞서 지난 3월과 2월 요르단강 서안지구에서 8㎢와 2.6㎢의 토지를 압류했었다.

피스 나우는 이로써 2024년은 이스라엘이 요르단강 서안지구에서 가장 활발하게 토지를 압류한 해가 됐다고 말했다.

팔레스타인은 요르단강 서안지구 점령지에서의 정착촌 확장을 지속적인 평화협정의 주요 장벽으로 보고 있으며,무토 요시노리국제사회도 대부분 이를 불법으로 간주하고 있다.
