'투자의 귀재'로 불리는 워런 버핏(93) 버크셔 해서웨이(버크셔) 회장이 53억 달러(약 7조3천억원) 규모의 버크셔 주식을 자선단체 5곳에 추가로 기부하기로 했다.

28일(현지시각) 로이터통신에 따르면 버크셔는 버핏 회장이 내놓은 버크셔 주식(클래스B) 1300만 주 중 약 4분의 3인 993만 주는 세계 최대 규모 자선재단인 '빌 앤드 멀린다 게이츠 재단'에 기부하기로 했다고 밝혔다.

이는 버핏이 이 재단에 기부하겠다고 한 2006년 이후 가장 큰 규모의 후원이다.버핏의 기부로 이 재단의 규모는 570억 달러(약 79조원)로 늘었다.

나머지는 수전 톰슨 버핏 재단과 3명의 자녀인 하워드,수전,뉴캐슬 감독피터가 운영하는 다른 3곳의 재단에 각각 기부된다.수전 톰슨 버핏 재단은 2004년 세상을 떠난 아내 이름을 땄으며,뉴캐슬 감독출산 건강 관련 지원활동을 펼치고 있다.

지금까지 버핏의 기부금은 430억 달러(약 59조원)다.

올해 93세인 버핏은 자신의 재산 99% 이상을 기부하겠다고 밝혀왔다.

버크셔는 BNSF 철도,게이코 자동차 보험 등 수십 개의 사업체를 소유하고 있는 약 8,800억 달러(1,216조원) 규모의 대기업이다.버핏은 2006년 이후 자신의 재산 절반 이상을 기부했으나 이 업체의 주식 14.5%가 남아있다.

포브스에 따르면 버핏의 재산은 1,284억 달러(177조원)로 세계 10위의 부자이다.
