[디지털데일리 채성오기자] 과학기술정보통신부 우정사업본부(본부장 조해근)가 전국 2500여개 우체국 창구에서 별도 수수료없이 은행 입·출금 서비스를 제공한다고 15일 밝혔다.

앞서 우정사업본부는 1998년 시티은행을 시작으로 지난 2022년 4대 시중은행 등 총 9개 금융기관의 입·출금과 조회,ATM(자동화기기) 서비스를 우체국 금융 창구에서 제공하고 있다.타 은행 업무 이용에 따른 고객 부담 수수료는 없다.

해당 서비스는 금융업무를 취급하는 전국 2500여개 우체국에서 제공된다.특히 50%가 넘는 1350여개 우체국이 농·어촌 지역에 포진해 있어 은행권 점포 축소로 인해 먼 지역까지 방문해야 했던 지방 소규모 지역의 금융서비스를 크게 개선하고 있다는 평가를 받고 있다.

우체국 창구에서 금융업무처리가 가능한 은행은 총 9곳이다.국민·신한·우리·하나은행 등 4대 은행을 비롯해 산업은행,기업은행,셀프청첩장시티은행,전북은행,셀프청첩장경남은행 등 특수은행 및 지방은행까지 서비스를 제공한다.

조해근 우정사업본부장은 "지역 주민과 고령층 등이 금융서비스 이용에 불편함이 없도록 우체국이 허브 역할을 확대해 나가겠다"며 "더 많은 국민이 우체국에서 보편적 금융서비스를 받을 수 있도록 다양한 서비스를 발굴해나갈 예정"이라고 말했다.

한편,우정사업본부는 은행 업무 개방외에도 보험·카드·증권사 등 290여개 금융기관과 20여개 업무를 제휴해 국민들에게 다양한 금융서비스를 제공하고 있다.
