[사진출처=연합뉴스]미국 정부가 선보일 새로운 반도체 규제가 삼성전자와 TSMC 파운드리 서비스에 대한 중국의 접근을 막을 수 있다는 전망이 나왔다.

13일 사우스차이나모닝포스트(SCMP)는 전문가들의 발언을 인용,아탈란타 대 칼리아리바이든 행정부가 “게이트올어라운드(GAA·Gate All Around) 역량을 갖춘 고대역폭메모리(HBM)에 대한 중국의 접근을 더 제한하는 방안을 검토하고 있다”고 보도했다.

컨설팅회사 카운터포인트의 브래디 왕은 “미국이 GAA 제조 역량을 갖춘 동맹국들을 규합해 중국 반도체 설계 회사들을 위해 생산하지 못하게 할 수 있다”고 전망했다.

앞서 지난 11일(현지시간) 블룸버그 통신은 미국 정부가 인공지능(AI)에 사용되는 반도체 기술에 중국이 접근하는 것을 차단하기 위해 추가 규제 방안을 검토하고 있다고 소식통을 인용해 보도했다.

블룸버그는 미국이 논의하고 있는 대상이 GAA와 고대역폭 메모리(HBM) 등 최신 기술이라고 전했다.GAA는 반도체의 기존 트랜지스터 구조인 핀펫(FinFET)의 한계를 극복할 수 있는 차세대 기술이다.

엔비디아,아탈란타 대 칼리아리인텔 등은 삼성전자나 대만 TSMC와 함께 내년에 GAA 기술을 적용한 반도체를 대량으로 생산한다는 계획이라고 블룸버그는 전했다.

한편 미국은 2022년 8월 반도체 전자설계자동화(EDA) 소프트웨어의 수출 통제를 시작으로 대중국 반도체 규제를 이어가고 있다.

해당 수출 통제로 중국의 3나노(㎚,아탈란타 대 칼리아리10억분의 1m) 공정 설계와 제작이 타격을 받을 것이라는 분석이다.
