세계김치연구소는 국가과학기술연구회가 시행한 기관운영평가에서 기관 설립 이후 처음으로 '우수' 등급을 받았다고 10일 밝혔다.

이번 평가에서 세계김치연구소는 '김치 발효과학 전문 기관 중장기 로드맵'을 수립했으며 기관 차원의 개방형 협력체계를 구축해 긍정 평가를 이끌어 냈다.

또 소통과 협력 기반의 조직문화 개선,크로스핏 클린김치산업 기술 기반의 산학연관 협력체계 강화,크로스핏 클린김치문화 세계화 체계를 구축해 높은 점수를 받았다.

우수한 김치종균 개발과 산업계 보급을 통한 상용화로 수출용 김치의 품질향상를 이끌었으며 태스크포스(TF) 운영을 통해 저온성 김치유산균에 최적화된 시험법을 개발해 한국인정기구(KOLAS) 공인시험기관(ISO/IEC 17025)으로 등록해 우수 사례로 인정됐다.

이 밖에도 연구지원체계평가 S등급,크로스핏 클린공공기관 안전관리등급제 연구실 안전수준 분야 2년 연속 최고등급을 달성했다.

과학기술분야 정부출연연구기관의 기관운영평가는 3년마다 진행되며 세계김치연구소는 지난 2010년 설립 이후 '미흡'과 '보통' 등급을 받아 기관 통폐합 위기에 놓였지만 이번 평가에서 '우수'기관으로 평가됐다.
