전세계적으로 높아진 K팝 위상에 비해 국내 기반 시설은 턱없이 부족합니다.

전문 공연장이 없어 대형 체육관에서 콘서트를 하는 실정인데요.

마침내 서울에 케이팝 전용 공연장이 들어섭니다.

박민경 기자가 취재했습니다.

[리포트]

서울 도봉구 창동차량기지 부근에 있는 5만 제곱미터 크기 부지입니다.

3년 뒤,메시 프리킥이곳에 서울 최초의 케이팝 전문공연장,서울아레나가 문을 엽니다.

2만 8천 명까지 들어갈 수 있는 대형 케이팝 전문공연장과 관객 7천 명 규모의 중형 공연장,메시 프리킥그리고 영화관이 생깁니다.

[안재형/서울 도봉구 : "(창동을 방문하는) 사람이 되게 많아질 것 같고 여러 상가 같은 거나 먹을 곳도 여러 가지 많이 생길 것 같아서 기대됩니다."]

그간 케이팝 공연은 서울 고척돔이나 잠실 올림픽 주경기장 등 체육시설에서 주로 열렸습니다.

전문시설이 아니다 보니 무대와 조명,메시 프리킥음향 모두 아쉬움이 있었습니다.

게다가 최근 들어 몇 군데가 리모델링 공사에 들어가면서 한동안 대규모 관객을 수용할 수 있는 공연장은 전무한 상태입니다.

일본에서 5만 명이 함께 즐긴 이런 공연을 우리나라에서는 할 수 없는 겁니다.

그만큼 서울아레나는 케이팝을 한 단계 더 올려놓는 계기가 될 거란 기대를 받고 있습니다.

경기도 고양과 하남에도 케이팝 공연장 조성이 추진되고 있어서 케이팝 기반 시설이 늦게나마 갖춰지고 있습니다.
