리튬배터리 1개에서 시작된 불이 공장 전체로 번졌다는 게 목격자 증언인데요.

대형 화재가 발생한 아리셀은 리튬 1차 전지를 만드는 공장입니다.

화재 현장에서 대피한 사람들에 따르면 공장 건물 2층 작업장에 있던 배터리 1개에서 불길이 먼저 치솟았습니다.

그러더니 옆에 있던 배터리에 불길이 옮겨 붙으며 연쇄 폭발이 일어났습니다.

"하나만 놓고 화재가 나면 그렇게 번지지 않고 그냥 하나만 발화하고 바로 그냥 꺼져버리는데 주변에 있으면 연속적 반응에 의해서 바로 번지는 걸로…"

화재 당시 2층에선 배터리 완제품을 검수하고 포장하는 작업이 진행 중이었습니다.

원통형 리튬 배터리 3만 5천여 개가 근처에 있었습니다.

리튬 배터리에서 연쇄 폭발이 발생하면서 불길을 잡기가 어려웠습니다.

밀봉되지 않은 리튬이 공기 중의 수분이나 물과 접촉하면 폭발 위험이 있어 물로 바로 끌 수가 없습니다.

"절연체와 리튬이온이 반응을 해서 화재가 난 거잖아요.끌 수 있는 방법은 공기를 차단해도 안 꺼지고 유일한 방법이 냉각을 시키는 겁니다."

이에 따라 마른 모래나 질소를 사용하는 방법을 검토했지만,순진한 토토 염색코드리튬 양이 많지 않은 걸로 확인되면서 물을 뿌려 확산을 방지하는 쪽으로 진압에 나섰습니다.

"옆 건물에도 지속적으로 열을 가하게 되면 화재가 발생할 수 있는데 그 중간을 물로 물로써 냉각 작용을 하면서…"

화재가 옆 건물로 확산되는 건 막았지만,순진한 토토 염색코드불이 난 건물은 배터리 화학물질이 모두 타 스스로 꺼질 때까지 기다릴 수밖에 없었습니다.
