최근 경기도 화성 리튬 공장 화재로 리튬 전지의 위험성에 대한 걱정이 커지고 있습니다.

KBS가 연구기관에 의뢰해 가정에서 흔히 쓰는 리튬 건전지에 대한 화재 실험을 해봤더니 폭발성이 매우 강했습니다.

혹시라도 리튬 전지에 화재가 나면,섣부르게 불을 끄기보다는 대피하는 게 안전합니다.

정재훈 기자의 보도입니다.

[리포트]

리모컨이나 자동차 열쇠 등에 넣고 쓰는 동전형 리튬 건전지입니다.

철판 위에 올려놓고 열을 가하기 시작한 지 2분 만에,큰 폭발음과 함께 사방으로 튀어 오르며 폭발합니다.

이번엔 가정에서 많이 쓰는 AA형 리튬 건전지.

가열 1분 만에 폭발음과 함께 불길이 솟구칩니다.

더 큰 리튬 건전지에 열을 가하자,폭발음과 함께 뿌연 유독가스마저 뿜어져 나옵니다.

실험에 쓰인 리튬 전지입니다.

폭발 당시 총알처럼 튀면서 산산 조각나 있습니다.

실험은 밀폐된 공간에서 진행됐지만,슬롯 1 또는 무료만약 가정에서 리튬 건전지가 폭발할 경우 파편에 다칠 가능성이 높습니다.

특히 리튬 건전지 여러 개를 보관하는 곳에서 폭발음이 들렸다면 섣부르게 불을 끄기보단 대피가 우선입니다.

반면,일상에서 흔히 쓰는 알칼라인과 망간 건전지의 경우 같은 조건에서 열을 가해봤지만 연기가 나거나 크게 폭발하지 않았습니다.
