한림대의료원 수장인 윤대원(사진) 학교법인 일송학원 이사장이 25일 노환으로 별세했다.79세.
고인은 1945년 윤덕선 학교법인 일송학원 설립자 장남으로 태어나 1969년 가톨릭대 의대를 졸업했다.1979년 미국 컬럼비아대에서 장기 이식 등을 연구하고,이듬해 귀국한 뒤 한림대 강남성심병원에서 외과 의사로 일했다.고인은 1987년 국내 최초로 췌장 이식수술에 성공했고,당뇨병 치료의 새로운 가능성을 제시했다.지난해 스웨덴 웁살라대에서 아시아 최초로‘린네 골드메달’을 받았다.
