(서울=연합뉴스) 최윤선 기자 = 서울 도심부 대기에 섞인 미세플라스틱을 분석한 결과 포장재나 각종 용기에 널리 사용되는 폴리에틸렌(PE)이 가장 많은 것으로 나타났다.

서울시보건환경연구원은 전국 시도 보건환경연구원 최초로 대기 중 미세플라스틱을 분석한 결과를 13일 발표했다.

연구원은 지난해 9월부터 올해 2월까지 서초구 양재동 연구원 옥상에 미세먼지 채취 장치를 설치한 뒤 강우 기간을 제외한 맑은 날 월 1회(24시간) 시료를 포집했다.

이후 유기물 제거·여과 과정을 통해 전처리한 후 라만 분광법을 적용한 분광기를 활용,블록 체인 관련 기술머리카락의 10분의 1 크기의 미세플라스틱을 분석했다.

연구원은 2021년 전국 시도 보건환경연구원 중 최초로 라만분광기를 활용한 미세플라스틱 분석시스템을 구축한 바 있다.

시스템은 20㎛(마이크로미터·100만분의 1ｍ) 이하의 미세플라스틱 분석을 할 수 있다.이번 연구에서는 5㎛ 이상 미세먼지를 분석했다.

분석 결과 5㎛ 이상의 미세플라스틱 평균 개수는 대기 1㎥당 71개였다.12월 미세플라스틱 평균 개수는 122개로 연중 가장 많았다.

종류별로 PE·폴리스타이렌(PS)·폴리에틸렌 테레프탈레이트(PET)·폴리프로필렌(PP)·폴리우레탄(PU)·폴리염화비닐(PVC)·폴리아마이드(PA)·아크릴 등 8종이 확인됐다.

이 중 포장재·플라스틱 용기 등에 사용되는 PE의 비율이 가장 높았으며,블록 체인 관련 기술식품 용기·컵 등에 사용되는 PS가 뒤를 이었다.

검출 비율은 가을(9∼11월)에는 PE-PS-PP 등 순이었고 겨울(12∼2월)에는 PE-PS-PU 등 순이었다.

연구원은 미세플라스틱 분석 크기를 1㎛까지 확대하고 봄과 여름철 대기 중 미세플라스틱 모니터링을 통해 계절별 미세플라스틱 발생 특성을 파악할 계획이다.

박주성 보건환경연구원장은 "그간 미세플라스틱 분석은 대부분 해양,토양 환경에 편중돼 도심 대기 미세플라스틱 조사·연구 결과는 부족한 실정"이라면서 "앞으로 대기질에 포함된 미세플라스틱 분석 방법을 표준화하고 생활밀착형 정책을 수립하기 위해 다양한 데이터를 확보할 계획"이라고 말했다.
