26일 진실화해위는 제81차 위원회에서 박 선생의 항일독립운동 활동에 대해 진실규명을 결정하고 국가에 고인의 명예 회복을 위한 조치를 권고했다고 밝혔다.

박 선생은 1929년 8월 여수지역 독서회 가입을 시작으로 여수에서 항일운동을 벌였다.1930년 6월에는 여수지역에서 독서회 지도를 맡으며 사회과학연구회·청년전위동맹 등 비밀결사를 조직해 반일 의식 고취를 위한 선전지를 뿌렸다.1932년 7월엔 여수적색노동조합준비회를 조직해 해산노동부 책임자로 활동하며 항만 운수 노동자의 동맹 파업에 관여했다.

박 선생은 1936년 치안유지법 위반으로 일본 경찰에 체포돼 징역 2년을 선고받았다.이후 1948년 여수·순천 10·19사건(여순사건)으로 사형 선고를 받아 이듬해 1월 여수 만성리에서 살해당했다.사형 선고 75년 만인 지난해 10월 광주지법 순천지원은 재심을 통해 무죄를 선고했다.

한편 진실화해위는 한국전쟁 전후 빨치산에 협조했다는 이유 등으로 희생된 전남 영암군 거주민 125명과 경남 밀양 거주민 2명의 희생 사건에 대해 진실규명 결정을 내렸다.또한 비슷한 시기 충청지역 교회 30곳에서 기독교인 71명이 적대세력에 의해 희생된 사건에 대해서도 진실규명을 결정했다.아울러 한국전쟁 발발 후 전북 고창군 주민 14명이 군·경의 토벌 작전에 의해 희생된 사건도 진실규명 결정을 내리고 국가의 사과와 피해회복 조치를 권고했다.
