서울 소재 한 초등학교 정문 앞에서 구청 관계자가 흡연단속을 하고 있다.[사진 출ㅊㅓ = 연합뉴스]17일부터 어린이집,유치원을 비롯한 보육시설과 초중고교 경계 30m 안에서 흡연하면 10만원 이하의 과태료를 물게 된다.
15일 보건복지부는 이런 내용을 담은 국민건강증진법·초중등교육법이 시행된다고 밝혔다.종전엔 어린이집·유치원 주변 10m 이내가 금연 구역이었는데 이를 30m까지 확대하고,항아리 도박규제가 없었던 학교 주변 금연구역도 경계 30m 안으로 새로 지정했다.지난해 8월 이같은 내용의 법개정이 이뤄졌는데,1년간의 유예기간을 두고 본격 시행한다.아동·청소년을 간접흡연으로부터 보호한다는 취지다.
이에 따라 각 시·군·구청은 어린이집,항아리 도박유치원,항아리 도박초중고교 시설의 경계 30m 이내가 금연구역임을 알리는 표지를 건물 담장과 벽면,항아리 도박보도 등에 설치해야 한다.복지부·한국건강증진개발원은 포스터나 현수막 같은 홍보물을 만들어 지자체에 배포하고 대국민 홍보를 강화할 계획이다.
배경택 복지부 건강정책국장은 “교육시설 주변의 금연구역 확대는 간접흡연에 취약한 아동·청소년의 건강 보호를 위해 필요한 조치”라며 “앞으로도 지역 사회 금연 환경조성에 최선을 다하겠다”고 말했다.
