(여수=연합뉴스) 장덕종 기자 = 전남 여수해양경찰서는 26일 무사증(무비자)으로 제주도에 입국한 뒤 여수로 무단이탈한 중국인 A(30대)씨를 제주특별법 위반 혐의로 검찰에 송치했다고 밝혔다.

무사증을 이용해 제주로 입국한 외국인은 제주 외 다른 지역으로 이동할 수 없다.

해경은 지난 12일 여수 입항 어선에 밀입국 의심자가 있었다는 신고를 받고 추적해 여수에서 머물던 A씨를 붙잡았다.

A씨는 붙잡히기까지 열흘간 여수에서 선원으로 일하고 있었다.

해경은 A씨를 상대로 경위를 조사해 무단이탈을 알선한 중국 출신 결혼이주여성과 선장 등 4명을 추가로 검거했다.

여수해경 관계자는 "해상을 통한 밀항 밀입국 등이 의심되는 외국인 발견 시 112로 적극적인 신고를 바란다"며 "국경 질서 위반 범죄에 엄중히 대응하겠다"고 말했다.
