(서울=연합뉴스) 정윤주 기자 = 송두환 국가인권위원회(인권위) 위원장은 오는 15일인 '노인학대 예방의 날'과 '세계 노인학대 인식의 날'을 맞아 성명을 내고 "노인학대의 예방과 근절을 위해 사회구성원 모두의 관심이 필요하다"고 14일 밝혔다.

송 위원장은 "노인학대는 주기적으로 반복되고 외부의 개입이 어려워 쉽게 해결되지 않아 그 문제가 오래 지속된다"며 이같이 지적했다.

이어 "대한민국 헌법은 모든 국민의 인간으로서의 존엄과 가치를 천명하고 행복추구권을 보장하며,아파트청약홈국가가 노인복지 향상을 위한 정책을 실시하도록 의무를 부여한다"면서 "정부와 우리 사회는 노인학대를 예방하고 초고령사회에 대비해 노인 인권 보호 정책을 마련해야 한다"고 강조했다.
