(샌프란시스코=연합뉴스) 김태종 특파원 = 12일 낮 12시 20분께(현지시간) 미국 캘리포니아주 로스앤젤레스(LA) 인근 지역에서 규모 4.6의 지진이 발생했다고 미국 지질조사국(USGS)이 밝혔다.

이날 지진은 LA 북동쪽 하이랜드 파크에서 서쪽으로 4㎞ 떨어진 지점에서 발생했으며 진원의 깊이는 12.1㎞다.

AP 통신은 LA 전 지역에서 지진이 강하게 느껴졌으며,프로야구 카페주민들은 유리잔과 접시가 여러 곳에서 덜컹거렸다고 말했다고 전했다.

피해는 보고되지 않았으며,프로야구 카페국립기상청은 쓰나미는 예상되지 않았다고 밝혔다.

이번 지진은 지난 6일 미국 캘리포니아주 중부에서 규모 5.3의 지진이 발생한 지 6일 만이다.

당시 지진은 LA에서 북북서쪽으로 140.6㎞,프로야구 카페산타 바버라에서 북동쪽으로 94.7㎞ 떨어진 지점에서 발생했다.

이로 인해 LA 시내를 포함한 캘리포니아주 남부 전역에서 흔들림이 느껴졌다.
