(서울=연합뉴스) 이보배 기자 = 이원석(사법연수원 27기) 검찰총장 후임 인선 절차가 본격적으로 시작됐다.

법무부는 5일 검찰총장 후보자 추천을 위해 총장 후보추천위원회를 구성했다고 밝혔다.

이 총장의 임기(2년)가 오는 9월 15일 만료되는 데 따른 것이다.임기 종료를 72일 앞두고 후임 인선이 시작된 것이다.

추천위 위원장은 노무현 정부 당시 검찰총장을 지낸 정상명 전 총장이 맡는다.

당연직 위원은 배형원 법원행정처 차장,김영훈 대한변호사협회장,로또 774회 당첨번호조홍식 한국법학교수회 회장,이상경 법학전문대학원협의회 이사장,로또 774회 당첨번호송강 법무부 검찰국장이다.

비당연직 위원은 정 전 총장 외에 이진기 성균관대학교 법학전문대학원 교수,로또 774회 당첨번호안수현 한국외국어대학교 법학전문대학원장,김세동 문화일보 논설위원이 위촉됐다.

법무부는 이달 8일부터 15일까지 총장으로 적합한 인물을 국민에게 천거 받는다.피천거인은 법조 경력 15년 이상이어야 한다.

개인·법인 또는 단체는 누구나 팩스·이메일을 제외한 비공개 서면으로 총장 후보자로 적합하다고 생각하는 사람을 법무부 장관에게 사유를 명시해 천거할 수 있다.

법무부 장관은 총장 후보자 천거 상황 등을 참고해 제청 대상자로 적합하다고 생각되는 사람을 추천위에 심사 대상자로 제시하게 된다.

이후 추천위는 적격 여부를 심사해 법무부 장관에게 후보자로 3명 이상을 추천하고,로또 774회 당첨번호장관은 이를 존중해 1명을 대통령에게 제청한다.

특별한 결격 사유가 없다면 대통령은 인사청문 요청안을 국회에 보내고,인사청문회를 거쳐 최종 임명한다.

검찰 안팎에서는 심우정(26기) 법무부 차관,임관혁(26기) 서울고검장,로또 774회 당첨번호신자용(28기) 대검찰청 차장검사가 차기 총장 후보군으로 거론된다.
