16일 업계에 따르면 곽 사장은 지난 12일(현지시간) 미국 캘리포니아주 새너제이에서 열린 'SK 글로벌 자문위원회 미팅'에서 미국 현지의 반도체 학계 및 전문가들을 만났다.

곽 사장은 이 자리에서 메모리 반도체 생태계 구축을 위한 학계 및 스타트업과의 지속가능한 협력 파트너십 육성을 집중 논의했다.또 멍 치앙 미국 퍼듀대 총장과 미국 인디애나주 웨스트 라파예트 첨단 패키징 투자 및 반도체 인력 육성 등에 대한 의견을 나눈 것으로 전해졌다.

이날 미팅에는 리처드 갓초 램리서치 수석 부사장,슬롯 나라 mlb앤서니 옌 ASML 기술개발센터장 겸 부사장,라자 코두리 미히라AI 최고경영자(CEO) 등 업계 관계자들이 참석했다.SK하이닉스에서도 김주선 사장,안현 부사장,김종환 부사장 등이 참석했다.

SK하이닉스는 미히라AI를 비롯해 소프트웨어 스타트업 MEXT,타타 일렉트로닉스 등과의 협업 방안도 다뤘을 것으로 전망된다.

한편 SK하이닉스는 미국 인디애나주 웨스트 라파예트에 첨단 패키징 공장을 건설하며 미국 투자를 본격화하고 있다.SK하이닉스는 반도체 인재 확보에 유리한 점을 고려해 인디애나주를 생산 거점으로 선정했다.오는 2028년 하반기 양산 예정이다.

또 퍼듀대 등 현지 연구기관과 반도체 연구·개발에 협력하기로 밝힌 바 있다.

앞서 SK하이닉스는 지난 12~14일 미국 새너제이에서 SK이노베이션,슬롯 나라 mlbSK텔레콤과 함께 2024 SK 글로벌 포럼을 개최했다.
