인도에서 종교 행사 중 압사 사고가 발생해 최소 116명이 숨졌습니다.
폭염 속 천막에서 치러진 기도회 종료 후 사람들이 앞다퉈 나가려다가 사고가 발생했는데요.
지난달 사우디 성지순례 행사에서도 1,300명 넘게 숨지는 등,여자 오줌 월드컵더운 날씨에 치러지는 종교행사에서 대규모 인명 피해가 속출하고 있습니다.

엄청난 인파가 서로 포개져 바닥에 깔려있습니다.

정신을 차린 사람들은 빠져나오려고 안간힘을 쏟지만,겹겹이 쌓인 사람들 때문에 여의치 않습니다.

현지시각 2일,인도 북부의 우타르프라데시주에서 열린 힌두교 집회에서 압사 사고가 발생해 최소 116명이 숨졌습니다.

기도회 뒤 뜨겁고 습한 천막을 나가려던 사람들이 포개지며 압사가 발생한 것으로 추정됩니다.

▶인터뷰 : 샤쿤탈라 / 목격자
- "사람들이 하나둘씩 쓰러지기 시작했습니다.바닥에 깔린 사람들은 사망했습니다.사람들이 와서 그들을 끌어냈어요."

행사장에는 허용 인원의 세 배에 달하는 1만 5천 명이 힌두교 신 시바를 기리기 위해 몰린 것으로 전해졌습니다.

희생자 대부분은 여성과 어린이들인데,여자 오줌 월드컵부상자가 많아 인명 피해는 늘어날 걸로 보입니다.

갓 3연임에 성공한 모디 총리는 서둘러 애도의 뜻을 전했습니다.

- "비극적인 사건으로 목숨을 잃은 사람들과 그 가족들에게 애도를 표합니다."
