26일 SK에 따르면 SK텔레콤은 SK C&C와 함께 '엔터프라이즈 AIX 태스크포스(TF)'를 신설하는 방안을 추진 중이다.

AI와 기업간거래(B2B) 사업의 시너지를 강화하고 국내외 관련 사업 확장을 추진하기 위한 취지다.

이와 함께 그룹 최고 의사결정 기구인 SK수펙스추구협의회 내 ICT위원회 산하에 'B2B AI 협의회'를 가동하는 방안도 검토 중인 것으로 알려졌다.ICT위원장은 유영상 SK텔레콤 사장이 맡고 있다.

최태원 SK그룹 회장이 그간 'AI 리더십' 확보와 반도체·AI 투자를 강조해 온 만큼 이 같은 조직을 신설해 계열사에 산재한 AI 관련 사업의 협력을 강화하는 등 AI 시장 선점에 속도를 내기 위한 것으로 풀이된다.

다만 아직 논의 초기 단계여서 구체적인 역할이나 향후 계획은 확정되지 않은 것으로 전해졌다.

앞서 최 회장은 지난 3일 "반도체 등 디지털 사업 확장을 통해 'AI 리더십'을 확보하는 것도 중요하다"고 강조한 바 있다.
