[서울=뉴시스] 박대로 기자 = 서울시는 기획재정부 제5차 재정사업평가위원회 심의 결과 목동선 경전철 사업이 예비타당성조사를 통과하지 못한 것으로 확인됐다고 11일 밝혔다.

'목동선 경전철'은 양천구 신월동에서 영등포구 당산역(2·9호선)을 연결하는 사업으로 총 연장 10.87㎞ 12개 역사로 계획됐다.

서울시는 2020년 11월 '제2차 서울특별시 도시철도망 구축계획'에 목동선을 반영하고 2021년 8월 예비타당성조사 대상사업으로 신청했다.같은 해 10월부터 기획재정부와 한국개발연구원(KDI PIMAC)이 예비타당성조사를 수행해 왔다.

시는 낮은 경제성 평가로 인해 목동선이 예비타당성조사를 통과하지 못한 것으로 분석했다.낮은 경제성 평가 원인으로는 목동 지역 재건축사업 미반영과 노선 우회도(ㄴ자)로 인한 도심 접근성 저하 등이 꼽혔다.

시는 사업 재추진 의지를 밝혔다.

시는 "목동선 경전철은 서울 서남부지역 균형 발전과 교통 불편 해소를 위해 필요한 사업인 만큼 서울시는 사업성 제고 방안을 마련해 조속한 시일 내에 재추진할 예정"이라고 밝혔다.

예비타당성조사 지침상 기존 노선 그대로는 재추진이 되지 않는다.이에 시는 '제2차 서울시 도시철도망 구축계획 변경 용역'을 통해 경제성 제고를 중점으로 노선 조정 등 대안을 검토할 예정이다.

윤종장 서울시 교통실장은 "목동선 경전철은 서울 서남부지역의 열악한 대중교통 환경 개선과 장래 대규모 개발계획에 대한 교통대책으로서 반드시 추진돼야 하는 필수 노선"이라며 "경제성과 지역 주민 모두를 만족시킬 수 있는 최적 노선을 마련해 신속한 사업 재추진에 만전을 다하겠다"고 밝혔다．
