(서울=뉴스1) 김태환 기자 = 삼성바이오에피스가 미국 식품의약국(FDA)으로부터 건선 치료제 '스텔라라'(Stelara) 바이오시밀러 '피즈치바'(PYZCHIVA®,프리미어리그 커뮤니티프로젝트명 SB17,프리미어리그 커뮤니티성분명 우스테키누맙)'의 품목허가를 획득했다고 2일 밝혔다.

피즈치바의 오리지널 의약품인 스텔라라는 얀센이 개발한 판상 건선,프리미어리그 커뮤니티건선성 관절염,프리미어리그 커뮤니티크론병,궤양성 대장염 등의 자가면역질환 치료제다.신경전달물질 인터루킨(IL)-12,프리미어리그 커뮤니티23의 활성을 억제하는 원리로 작용한다.글로벌 시장 규모는 약 14조원에 달한다.

삼성바이오에피스는 피즈치바 허가를 통해 미국 시장에서 총 7번째 품목허가를 획득했다.기존 종양괴사인자 알파(TNF-α) 억제제 3종에 이어 인터루킨 억제제까지 미국 시장에서의 자가면역질환 치료제 포트폴리오를 보다 확장했다.

정병인 삼성바이오에피스 상무는 "자가면역질환 치료제 중 첫 인터루킨 억제제인 피즈치바의 미국 허가를 받아 기쁘다"며 "앞으로도 다양한 분야의 의약품 개발을 통해 환자들에게 더 많은 치료 옵션을 제공할 수 있도록 노력하겠다"고 말했다.

한편 삼성바이오에피스는 지난해 글로벌 바이오 제약사 산도스(Sandoz)와 피즈치바의 북미 및 유럽 판매를 위한 파트너십 계약을 체결했으며,프리미어리그 커뮤니티스텔라라의 오리지널사인 존슨 앤드 존슨과의 합의에 따라 2025년 2월 22일부터 미국 시장에 출시가 가능하다.
