<LG전자 제공> LG전자가 글로벌 인재들과 손잡고 독자 스마트TV 플랫폼 'webOS' 콘텐츠 경쟁력 확대를 도모한다고 9일 밝혔다.

LG전자는 최근 북미이노베이션센터(LG NOVA) 홈페이지를 통해 webOS에 탑재할 게임 및 인공지능(AI) 활용 콘텐츠를 모집하는 글로벌 해커톤(Hackathon)을 개최한다고 발표했다.

이번 해커톤은 webOS의 콘텐츠 경쟁력을 높여 TV 플랫폼 사업을 확대하는 개방형 혁신 활동의 일환이다.앞서 LG전자는 TV 사업의 지향점을 '미디어&엔터테인먼트 플랫폼 기업'으로 삼고,스페치아 대 밀란올해 webOS 플랫폼 사업을 조 단위 매출 규모로 키우겠다고 밝힌 바 있다.

LG전자는 이번 해커톤으로 webOS 플랫폼 내 콘텐츠가 더욱 풍성해질 것으로 기대하고 있다.현재 webOS에는 △엔터테인먼트 △홈피트니스 △교육 △원격의료 등 다양한 분야의 약 3500여개 앱 콘텐츠가 탑재돼 있다.특히 글로벌 기준 webOS로 즐길 수 있는 게임은 500여개의 게임 앱과 지포스 나우(GeForce NOW),스페치아 대 밀란아마존 루나(Amazon Luna) 등 클라우드 게이밍 서비스 내 게임을 합쳐 3000여개에 이른다.

또 AI에 기반한 webOS의 맞춤형 고객 경험도 더욱 확대될 전망이다.올해 webOS는 AI로 사용자의 목소리를 인식해 해당 계정으로 간편 로그인 하도록 했다.이를 통해 설정한 홈 화면을 제공하는 기능,스페치아 대 밀란TV 사용 중 불편함을 겪을 경우 리모컨에 증상을 말하면 AI가 TV 상태를 진단해 해결책을 제시하는 'AI 챗봇' 기능 등을 탑재했다.

해커톤 참가를 원하는 글로벌 개발자들은 26일까지 전용 웹페이지로 지원서를 제출하면 된다.평가를 거쳐 선정된 수상자에게는 webOS가 탑재된 스마트TV를 대상으로 개발한 콘텐츠를 사업화하는 기회가 주어진다.콘텐츠 개발 과정에서 LG전자 전문가들로부터 기술 지원도 받는다.
